How does the course work?
The PADI Open Water Diver course is completed in three steps: online learning, pool training, and open water checkout dives.
Step 1: eLearning - $283
Complete the academic portion of the course online at your own pace. The eLearning introduces you to scuba equipment, safety, dive planning, and the basic knowledge needed to begin your in-water training.
Step 2: Pool Training - $350
Pool training takes place in a heated indoor pool under direct instructor supervision. You will learn and practice the core scuba skills needed to dive safely and confidently.
Pool training includes use of tanks, BCD, regulators, and dive computer. Pool sessions are typically completed over one weekend.
Step 3: Open Water Checkout Dives - $450
To complete your certification, you will complete four open water dives in a lake, quarry, or ocean environment. This is where you apply the skills learned in the pool and become a certified diver.
The Open Water Dive portion includes full scuba equipment rental for the weekend, an extra tank, dive computer, logbook, PADI Open Water certification eCard, and instructor supervision during all four dives.

Local Certification vs Referral Training
Both full local certification and referral programs are excellent ways to become a certified diver, and the best option often depends on your schedule and travel plans.
Many students choose to complete their entire course locally in Ontario, which allows them to build confidence and experience in a wider variety of diving conditions before travelling. Divers who train locally often feel especially comfortable and prepared when they later experience warm, clear tropical water.
Referral programs are also a fantastic option for students planning an upcoming vacation who would prefer to complete their open water dives while travelling. We are happy to guide students through either path and help choose the option that best fits their goals.
Private Training Option
Private course options are available for pool training and/or open water checkout dives at $150 per hour.
This is a great option for students looking for a flexible schedule, additional coaching, or more personalized instruction.
